Remembering our Beloved Charter Member, Peter Boston, III (A.K.A Coach Boston)
The Supreme Basileus of the Universe called Brother Peter Boston, III to OMEGA Chapter on November 21st, 2016 Peter Boston, III passed on and entered into Omega Chapter. Coach Boston was a local legend who coached generations of Yazoo children, including many who went on to become professional athletes; such as Willie Brown (Hall of Fame w/ Oakland Raiders), Elex Price (New Orleans Saints), Houston Hoover (Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, & Miami Dolphins), and Gentle Ben Williams. He never met a stranger and had a contagious smile with a wonderful sense of humor. Stories of his kindness and care came from all walks of life around the community. He was a humble man who rarely talked about himself, but others had plenty of good things to say about him.
Remembering our Beloved Charter Member, Aubry Noel Brent, Jr. (AKA Buddy)
The Supreme Basileus of the Universe called Brother Aubry N. Brent, Jr. to OMEGA Chapter on September 23rd, 2019. Bro. Brent was born on November 7th, 1948 to Aubry Noel Brent, Sr., and Catherine Jefferson Brent.
The nickname of “Buddy” was given to him as a youngster as he was always enjoyed and loved by others. Buddy valued his friendships, as nothing was more evident than ever with his classmates. Aubry graduated from N.D. Taylor High School in 1966 and matriculated to Alcorn State University. It was a natural attraction as Aubry was drawn to The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. with our motto being “Friendship is Essential to the Soul”.
Buddy was inducted into the Lampodos Club of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Inc. in 1967 and was initiated on December 16th, 1967. Affectionately known as the “Dirty Dozen”, Aubry and his line brothers instantly became the “Big Men on Campus”. Shirly Chisolm said, “Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth”. No person exuded this quote in more than Bro Aubry!
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1970 where he served for two years. There he was assigned in Germany where he served as a military officer. Bro. Aubry then served in the United States Army National Guard for 26 years where he retired as a First Sergeant.
His tireless service continued as he retired as a teacher after over 42 years of impacting many lives of those within the Yazoo City and the surrounding communities. He challenged his students to always strive for greatness. He coached Football and Tennis where he continued to impact our youth.
Buddy served as an Alderman for the residents in the 4th Ward of Yazoo City for over 26 years. Bro. Aubry Brent, Jr. answered the clarion call of service when the need for a chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was needed to served the Yazoo City community. He served as a charter member for Xi Kappa Kappa Chapter which was chartered on December 14th, 1996.
